There’s only one way you should start a trip to Oxford, visiting William Faulkner’s grave. We know it’s early, but it’s a tradition to take a shot of whiskey—Four Roses was Faulkner’s favorite—when you stop by. We’ll leave that up to your discretion. Now that you’ve visited his grave, wind the clock back and visit William Faulkner’s stunning estate—Rowan Oak. This beautiful home, surrounded by towering trees, is where you’ll find artists, bookworms and photographers gleefully wandering the grounds.
Lunch: Get your camera ready, this lunch spot is as stylish as it is delicious. You can’t go wrong with their sandwiches or salads…or burgers and fries. We won’t judge, after all you’re on vacation.

The Lyceum and the Champion Tree, and the on campus museum are must visit spots on campus. You don’t have to be an alumn to enjoy the architecture and history.
Lunch: We’re sorry this market doesn’t exist in your hometown, but soak it up while you’re here. Browse the locally curated items, grab a coffee at the counter, pick up a sandwich or a freshly made charcuterie board. Yes, this place has everything you need in life.

Head back to The Square and stop by The End of All Music where you can check out their collection of vinyl records. You can also visit local shops such as Blue Delta Jean Co, where you can be fitted for custom, bespoke denim designed to impress for years. Now, head down the alcove titled “Faulkner’s Alley” until you see a loose jawed skull. You’ll know what to do when you see it.
